Davis Dyslexia Correction Methods

How do Davis methods compare in effectiveness with other approaches for dyslexia?

We do not have studies comparing Davis with other methods, nor do we plan to do such studies.

We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to dyslexia. Our methods are particularly effective for dyslexic students who fit the profile of strengths and weaknesses described in the book "The Gift of Dyslexia". The Davis Dyslexia Correction® program is always given one-on-one, over the course of 30 hours, with follow up work done independently by the client with the help of parents or other support persons.

We cannot compare this with other approaches because they are delivered in different ways, with different sets of goals. Many programs, unlike Davis methods, are aimed solely at teaching reading, or at alleviating a particular sensory issue, such as auditory training or vision therapy. Some are given in group settings, and many are given to children younger than those we work with.

In almost all cases, we can help children and adults who have been diagnosed or have common symptoms of dyslexia. We hope that by providing good information about our program that we are able to help our clients and their families know whether Davis techniques fit well with their learning style.
