Dyslexic Scientist Learns How To Connect Letters To WordsTable of Contents | Davis Dyslexia Correction Methods | Experiences With Davis Methods
Here are my experiences with the Ron Davis technique:
1) "Playing in clay" is actual quite hard mental work!
2) The results will be nothing like what you think they will be. However they will be much better.
The results I have found after spending 3 days training, (this is my 3rd day since training ended and the first back at work) are:
1) Words have letters now! For the first time words have individual letters.
2) I know the sounds of the letters.
3) Now as the words have letters and make sounds I can sound out new words for the first time ever, I know when I have spelt things wrong as they don't look/sound right, I can attempt to spell words I don't know how to spell and get them almost right or right! This is very very exciting!
4) I know when I am taking stuff in when I am reading, and when I am just reading and nothing is "going in."
5) I see punctuation marks now, things like -, : and "". I know what they mean.
6) My wonderfully supportive and long suffering wife thinks that my handwriting has improved, it has but I will wait for a while until I pass judgement to see if it is long lasting.
7) My ability to type on the computer key board has improved heaps and heaps. There has been a drastic reduction in "typos."
8) On spelling check this, there was a drastic reduction in errors and could see in every case where I had made the mistake and why the new word was correct.
I am very fired-up about this technique and think that it is wonderful.
