Success Rate When A ParentDavis Dyslexia Correction Methods
The book "The Gift of Dyslexia" was first published in 1994. It is now available in at least sixteen (16) languages, and is the best-selling book about dyslexia on the internet. We have heard from many parents who have been very successful using the information in the book to work with their children.
However, we have no way of assessing what the success rate is for a parent working with a child from the book. This depends on many factors, such as the individual parent's relationship with the child, their ability to follow the instructions laid out in the book, their commitment and level of follow through, and the child's level of motivation and readiness to work with the parent.
Also, the book explains only the basic, core Davis techniques. This is enough for most parents to help children who have mild to moderate levels of difficulty with reading, but probably not sufficient information for children with very severe dyslexia or collateral problems like ADD or dyscalculia.
The best way to learn about both the successes and the types of barriers people encounter while using the book is to read the posts in our open forum at http://www.dyslexiatalk.com/
We have kept archives of posts going back several years open and available, as this allows readers to follow the progress of many families as they have posted their experiences or asked questions on the bulletin board.
