Testing For Dyslexia

Testing by the School - General Information

You can request comprehensive testing for learning disabilities from the child's school. In the United States, the law requires that testing must be provided within a specified time frame after you make a written request. There are similar laws in Canada and the U.K.

By requesting help through the school, parents can obtain comprehensive testing without cost. If a child is determined to have learning disabilities, the school must also legally provide appropriate services.

Parents should bear in mind that the services provided by the school may not necessarily meet the child's needs. It is important for parents to learn about various programs and approaches to be an effective advocate for their child.
