Vocational Rehabilition Money For CollegeTable of Contents | Grants And Scholarships
Anyone in the US and looking for money for college or trade schools. Under the Vocational Rehabilitation acts, every state has a job training program for disabled adults and disabled High school graduate - If you were blind, the school system would send you directly to them upon graduation, BUT, since you are merely learning disabled, they never do.
The program usually has a name like Department (or Division) of Rehabilitation, and is usually part of the State Department of Education, though it MAY be under Health or Social Services.
If you are disabled, they have assistive technology (computers, recorders, software), and SCHOLARSHIPS - they can pay 100% of college costs - courses, books, living expenses, transportation - and the more professionals they turn out, the better it looks on THEIR reviews - so, unlike local school systems, the LOVE to help out, instead of trying to AVOID helping.
They usually can't pay for graduate studies, just undergraduate, but, if you are a client, a good counselor will try to find ways to bend the rules to maximize what you get.
NOT ALL COUNSELORS ARE GOOD - As in anything, there is a certain amount of luck, and you may still have to advocate.
